I’ve never had a dog hug me back before Bene. When I first met him at service dog team training in August 2019, he knew a “snuggle” command and a “kiss” command and he wouldn’t do either with me. It wasn’t until we started really bonding a couple months into being a team that he started to do them (which makes sense now).
