Why isn't the 'The Karate Kid' remake called 'The Kung Fu Kid"?
May 26, 2010 · Supposedly, the kid already knows karate, so he's called the "karate kid" by the Chinese kids as an insult. Then the karate kid learns kung fu so he can kick better ass. Because apparently karate is for pussies, or something.

I recently watched the original Karate Kid film and immediately remembered the scene of Chang auditioning for the play. Jason Mantzoukas' role as the director is gold. He whiplashed the hell out of Chang to get the very best of portraying Mr. Miyagi. This is why I love Community. Pop-culture references done right.

Karate Kid is also something that shouldn't cost much. It's grounded, and no big special effects. Jackie Chan probably takes a hefty salary, but otherwise, everyone should be pretty cheap. If they strike the right tone, it can be fun.

KARATE KID gives Danny the victory in spite of a completely illegal kick to the face. Interestingly, the Youtube series does a marvelous job of taking these concepts further, unpacking and confronting who these people become later in life as a result of what really was an absurdly negligent decision by the referees.

Dec 21, 2021 · Karate Kid 1 & 2 were good, 3 was okay, The Next Karate Kid sucked, and the one with Jackie Chan I didn't even watch because it's not karate and I didn't want the franchise to be ruined for me. I love Cobra Kai, even though sometimes it feels more like a teen drama than an action/karate show.
