The death toll continues to rise in West Virginia after a historic flash flood. West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey confirmed that the death toll from the flash flood has risen to eight. Morrisey said that he was told about the death before his media briefing.

West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey will give a state flood response in Wheeling on Wednesday. The Governor is expected to brief members of the media in Wheeling after attending a roundtable discussion with state and local officials.

At least two people remained missing in the state’s northern panhandle after torrential downpours Saturday night, Gov. Patrick Morrisey said Monday. As much as 4 inches (10 centimeters) of rain fell in parts of Wheeling and Ohio County within 40 minutes. The dead included a 3-year-old child.
