Season 2 of the DCU show is hitting HBO Max on August 21, and it directly follows the events of Superman. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn explained, “Superman leads into this show and then we have the setting up of all of the rest of the DCU in this season of Peacemaker, it’s incredibly important.”

Held at the Westin Copley Hotel as part of the organization’s weekend-long conference, the NCS honored Barry with the Elzie Segar Award, which recognizes artists for their contributions to the “profession of cartooning,” according to the event’s website.

Superman was a hit at the box office, and showed the vision co-CEO James Gunn had for the DCU as a whole. The cast of Superman was led by Corenswet, who has a young daughter with wife Julia Warner. In an interview with ET he spoke about trying to balance his movie with being a father, saying:

Superman has inched towards the $600 million mark at the global box office after six weekends in theaters and the home digital release of the DC Universe kickstarter. James Gunn’s Superman has a global tally of $594.5 million after earning an additional $8.4 million over the weekend.

Actor Sean Gunn, who plays Maxwell Lord in Superman, recently spoke about whether his character would serve as a villain in DCU. Sean is the brother of James Gunn, the co-head of the DCU. He will reprise the role in Peacemaker Season 2.

Superman spent six weekends in movie theaters and with four for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, it is clear which movie won the box office battle for their respective franchises.
