After weeks spent out-of-state in an effort to deny Texas Republicans a quorum for an extreme redistricting plan—designed at Donald Trump’s behest to give the GOP a five-seat advantage in the House of Representatives—the state’s Democrats are still refusing to back down.

Several Texas state House Democrats plan to rip up the written agreements that allowed them to leave the chamber with a police escort on Monday and return to the House floor Tuesday night, the caucus announced.

Democratic lawmakers left Texas this month to block a vote on new congressional maps backed by President Donald Trump. Now that they’ve returned, Republicans are trying to prevent a repeat performance by requiring state police to escort Democrats exiting the Texas House of Representatives.
