An off-duty police officer fatally shot a 30-year-old man in Washington Heights Sunday night, after the man allegedly showed a weapon, according to the NYPD.

Upon seeing the weapon, the off-duty officer quickly drew his own gun and fired multiple rounds at the suspect.

The slain suspect, Lahione Soto, is suspected in a string of nearby holdups in the minutes leading up to the shooting, police sources said.
