A North Texas newlywed who spent more than 140 days in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody said Thursday in her first public comments since her release that she does not blame the country that has been her home for more than a decade.

Ward Sakeik, an Arlington resident of Palestinian descent, had been in Texas immigration detention centers for 140 days after ICE agents detained her as she and her husband returned from their honeymoon to the U.

The woman was detained by immigration officials in February as she returned from honeymooning with her new husband in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
