The 600-pound (273-kilogram) bronze statue used to greet visitors at the Grand Canyon Lodge on the national park’s North Rim.

The statue is modeled after a real donkey who helped some of the Grand Canyon North Rim's first settlers establish camp.

The next community meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. MST on Monday, Aug. 18, in the gym of Fredonia High School.
