The displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip is a “red line” and Cairo will not allow any party to risk Egypt’s national security or sovereignty, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said on Monday.

Nationwide protests erupted throughout Israel on Sunday as hundreds of thousands of demonstrators called for the safe return of hostages still held in Gaza after nearly two years of war. The demonstrations amounted to one of the largest the country has seen since the start of the war in October 2023.

The new proposal reportedly includes a 60-day truce and a partial hostage release as pressure mounts on Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu to end the war.
