Although it's still far from full, recent rains have pushed Canyon Lake's water level to its highest point since August 2023.

On Wednesday Clendenin welcomed a new boat ramp on the banks of the Elk River. Local residents and business owners said they're excited about the new addition and what it could bring to Clendenin.

In August 2014, the driver of an SUV went into the New River about 4:30 a.m., believing the ramp was an Interstate 95 entrance ramp. Two women were rescued.
