On Thursday at 1:30 p.m. a severe thunderstorm watch was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 10 p.m. for Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe and Northampton counties.

The further south one heads from I-78, the lesser the chances are to see any storms and certainly any severe weather.

Forecasters say some of today's thunderstorms may pack a big punch, with winds strong enough to damage trees and power lines.
