The wife of slain NYPD officer Didarul Islam, who was among five people killed in a mass shooting last month, has given birth to the couple's third son.

Lahione Soto, of the Dominican Republic, died after he was shot by the cop outside a residential building in Washington Heights.

NYPD shut down the Times Square area on Monday, 18 August 2025, after reports of a ‘suspicious package’ lying outside the front gate of the local police station building.

Upon seeing the weapon, the off-duty officer quickly drew his own gun and fired multiple rounds at the suspect.

The slain suspect, Lahione Soto, is suspected in a string of nearby holdups in the minutes leading up to the shooting, police sources said.

"They’re obviously looking to see if they’re part of that same robbery pattern involving the CBP agent shot,'' a law-enforcement source said.
