The incident began at around 3:45 p.m., as an Orange Line train was stopped approaching Roxbury Crossing, according to the transit agency.
Around 8:50 a.m., Keolis Commuter Services spokesman Jake O’Neill e-mailed the Globe to report mTicket was functioning again.
Authorities are currently unsure why the train halted at that location and how a door opened, allowing the man to exit.
