Hundreds of thousands of people rallied in U.S. cities and around the globe for International Workers’ Day or May Day, with the focus this year on President Donald Trump’s agenda.

Protesters across the U.S. on Thursday used the international labor day to push back against what they see as an anti-immigrant and anti-worker agenda being pushed by the Trump administration.

TOKYO (AP) — From Tokyo to Taipei to Manila, people across Asia marked May Day with marches and protests that spotlighted growing unease over U.S. President Donald Trump’s policies and fears of global economic instability.

The holiday, also known as International Workers’ Day or Labor Day, marks the struggles and achievements of workers and the labor movement.

Shouting “banzai!” or “live long,” thousands of people gathered in a Tokyo park on Thursday and marched through the streets to the banging of traditional drums, as Japan kicked off celebrations to mark May Day.
