The escalating conflict between India and Pakistan, two neighbors who have been rivals for decades, erupted in the early hours of Wednesday morning when New Delhi launched missiles across the border.

India fired missiles into Pakistani-controlled territory in several locations early Wednesday, killing at least 26 people including a child, in what Pakistan’s leader called an act of war.

After weeks of tensions from a terrorist attack in Kashmir, India conducted strikes against Pakistan. Anger on both sides has the world bracing for an escalation.
