A federal judge allowed for the release of Columbia University student Mohsen Mahdawi on Wednesday after being detained for nearly two weeks following his arrest by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

A judge on Wednesday ordered the release of a Palestinian man who led protests against the war in Gaza as a student at Columbia University and was arrested by immigration officials during an interview about finalizing his U.

Mahdawi, born and raised in a refugee camp in the West Bank, was arrested by federal authorities while he was arriving to a naturalization interview.
