Officials in Sweden have vowed to determine why a man killed 10 people, and apparently himself, in an unprecedented attack that's shaken their "society to its core."

Police were alerted to a shooting at a school in Sweden just after noon local time on Tuesday, Feb. 4, according to multiple outlets. At least five people have been confirmed shot and the public has been warned to avoid the area,

Sweden's right-wing government said on Friday it would seek to tighten gun laws in the wake of the country's deadliest mass shooting at an adult education centre where the attacker appeared to have used several of his own licensed rifles.

As many as 10 people have died in a shooting at a school in Sweden, police have confirmed. The deadly attack happened on Tuesday afternoon at Risbergska School, an adult education centre, in the city of Örebro, about 125 miles west of Stockholm.

Sweden is set to tighten its gun laws, including a ban on certain semiautomatic weapons, after a mass shooting that left 11 people dead.
