The Mets traded for Blackburn at the deadline last year, but his season was cut short by a right hand contusion and a spinal fluid leak. The Mets re-signed him to a one-year, $4.05 million contract in the offseason, but he battled right knee inflammation and did not make his season debut until June 2.

Blackburn will work out of the bullpen. He dealt with several injuries after joining the Mets at the 2024 trade deadline.

The Yankees have signed pitcher Paul Blackburn after he was released earlier this week by the Mets. The Mets had designated Blackburn for assignment after Friday’s 11-9 loss to clear a roster spot for pitching prospect Nolan McLean, who made his major-league debut the following day.
