Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took holy dips in sacred river waters in the northern city of Prayagraj on Wednesday as he joined millions of people at the Maha Kumbh Mela, a week after dozens died in a stampede at the event.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday visited the Mahakumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj, wherein he took a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam.

Wearing a red jacket, navy blue track pants and sky blue muffler and strings of rudraksh beads around his neck and wrists, the Prime Minister took the dip at the VVIP Ghat at the Sangam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh Mela, taking a sacred dip at the Sangam and inaugurating infrastructure projects worth INR 5,500 crore. The event saw participation from international leaders and celebrities and had a massive turnout of over 12.

Modi took a boat ride from Arail Ghat to the Triveni Sangam; along the route, he acknowledged the greetings of the crowd that had lined up on both sides of the riverbank

PM Narendra Modi took a dip in the waters of Triveni Sangam on Wednesday to the accompaniment of Vedic hymns, becoming one with crores of pilgrims who have trooped to Maha Kumbh every day since Jan 13 to experience what he described as "a moment of divine connection".
