The Padres have a new control person, as the MLB owners have unanimously approved John Seidler, brother of Peter Seidler.

John is the eldest brother of the late Peter Seidler, who was the principal owner of the Padres for the last few years before his death in 2023

If appointed, John Seidler will simultaneously succeed Matt Seidler as trustee and Eric Kutsenda as Padres chairman. Seidler, 65, could soon oversee a team that won 93 games last season and took the eventual World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers to the brink in the National League Division Series.
