Former NBA All-Star Shawn Kemp pleaded guilty to second-degree assault on MAY 27, 2025, in connection with a shooting incident outside the Tacoma Mall in Washington state.

On March 8, 2023, just before 2 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in the parking lot of the Tacoma Mall at the 4500 block of S. Steele St. No injuries were reported.

Pierce County deputies, Tacoma Police, Washington State Patrol and Lakewood and Puyallup Police Departments have responded. In total, 87 officers from eight departments showed up.
