Not to mention, the Seahawks just made adjustments better than the Panthers did. In fact, they caught Carolina off guard.
Seattle’s defense had two takeaways and dominated throughout to help lead the Seahawks to a sixth consecutive victory.
Sam Darnold threw for 147 yards, one touchdown and one interception while completing 66.7% of his passes. Darnold once again struggled with turnovers as the Seahawks quarterback not only threw an interception but had a fumble.
A difficult third-quarter stretch not only squandered the Panthers a chance at a win — but also an early berth into the playoffs.
Seattle took away vertical and middle-field options while simultaneously blanketing check downs with a combination of consistent pressure. Although the Seahawks are beatable on defense, as evidenced by the Los Angeles Rams in Week 16, the Panthers simply are not far along enough to best a Super Bowl-ready unit—at least not yet.
