Political observers said having the two top state leaders at odds with each other is raising questions about a possible split within the Republican-run state.

Gov. Greg Abbott decided to veto a proposed ban on THC products in Texas, in the dead of night on Sunday, everyone in the state knew Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick wouldn't be happy. And it didn't take him long to show it.

Patrick has said he would not agree to Abbott’s call to regulate THC products. Wermund said as president of the Senate, Patrick has the ability to gum up the works during the special session.
