NEWARK, N.J. -- Mark Scheifele and Gabriel Vilardi each had a goal and an assist, and the Winnipeg Jets held on for a 4-3 victory against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center on Tuesday.

The Devils also get a project of their own in the deal.

Mark Scheifele scored his 26th goal of the season, reigning MVP Connor Hellebuyck stopped 26 of the 29 shots he faced and the Winnipeg Jets ended their two-game skid by beating the New Jersey Devils 4-3.

Hours after NJ Advance Media reported that the veteran forward was planning to be scratched for “roster-related reasons,” he was dealt to the New York Islanders — along with a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick — for forward Maxim Tsyplakov.
