Fire crews are battling a 3-alarm building fire in southwest Houston Wednesday evening, according to the Houston Fire Department. HFD said the call came in around 6 p.m. to an office building off the Sam Houston Tollway near Bellaire Boulevard.

An underground fire and explosion at a power substation on the Texas Tech University campus Wednesday night caused multiple power outages and evacuations, sending students to an early spring break.

Several buildings at Texas Tech University in Lubbock were evacuated Wednesday night after officials said an explosion in a manhole near a substation caused multiple fires that could be seen emerging from underground across parts of the campus and widespread power outages in the area.
