The Vancouver Canucks may not have played on Friday night, but it's easy to feel like they came out of it as losers. In one of the biggest trades of the decade, the Carolina Hurricanes acquired Mikko Rantanen and Taylor Hall from the Colorado Avalanche and Chicago Blackhawks,

The Hurricanes sent Martin Necas, Jack Drury, and multiple draft picks to the Avalanche in exchange for Rantanen, while Taylor Hall joined Carolina from Chicago. The Blackhawks retained 50% of Rantanen’s salary and received a third-round pick in return, making the operation more palatable for the Hurricanes.

The Carolina Hurricanes just pulled off the biggest trade in franchise history. In a three-team trade between Carolina, the Colorado Avalanche and the Chicago Blackhawks the Hurricanes took a swing for the fences.
