Texas head football coach Steve Sarkisian could be on the verge of making a very unpopular decision among the Longhorn faithful.

The Texas Longhorns cemented themselves as an SEC powerhouse this past college football season, finishing the year with a 13-3 record and a 7-1 mark in conference play. Texas' season was cut short after a loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff.

Longtime Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds always believed that every coach at Texas should be among the best in their profession. He always paid them that way, too. Dodds always wanted each Texas coach to be among the top-five highest paid coaches in their respective sport.
