I understand that there are breaks in the walk where the wall no longer exists, is there sufficient signage to get you to the next part of the original wall walk?

Yes there is plenty of signage. But to be honest the gaps in the wall aren’t that large. Just google “york city wall” and look at Jorvik site and that will give you a clue. Sorry I would add …
