It is quite manageable. There are three floors but because of the large open area in the middle of the building, the upper floors are just a circle around the edge of the building. But at the same time, it doesn't feel small. The exhibits are robust, high quality, and filled with information.

Unfortunately when I visited Troppenmuseum in October 2017, I cannot remmber seeing musical instruments used by the peoples in countries that had been colonised by the Dutch. However, their cultures are very vividly shown including their day to day life. There were some videos that included them singing in groups.
Will children between 6-15 enjoy the visit or get board?

The day I went, half the visitors were children. As I was leaving, there was even a rather large group of 10-12 year olds in what I assumed was a school tour that had just arrived. Have fun !

It's a big museum. with much to see, and it definitely needs time on your part to be able to fully enjoy it. A toddler rarely stays quiet for long and cannot yet really enjoy a museum yet, any museum... So I would say, if this will be your only chance for a long time to visit the Tropenmuseum, you might give it as quick a chance as possible even so. But if that is not the case, then maybe you better wait for your little one to be more able to enjoy the visit with you...
