A bit touristy in some areas, but very genuine in others as this is a real neighborhood where people actually live and shop and have normal, day to day lives.Full review by heyheyheathery

An interesting experience, a unique place. It is quite busy and packed. There are a large number of souvenir stores greeting us at the entrance and it gets more authentic as you walk deeper into this…Full review by Bogi F
I have 5 kids and I’m going to San Francisco is there a parking garage or a pay lot close to china town? I know there is near pier 39 but I need to know where to park near China town. Thank you again everyone!

Yes there is!! Parking on the street is very dificult and a bit stressful. Drive in to China town and they give you a flat rate depending on the garage.
I would like to take my sister in law to an authentic, cart style dim sum restaurant on our trip 1-5 July. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Janesmom

We didn’t try the cart style dim sum restaurant but did bought some dim sum takeaway. It was nice. If you like wanton noodles, we recommend Hon’s Wun Tun House at 648 Kearny St. The noodles are handmade and yummy.
Traveling to SF on 5/11-5/12/18, with my daughter. Planning on Alcatraz tour during the day on Saturday and dinner in China Town Sat evening. 3 questions: 1) Any suggestions for an authentic Chinese restaurant to have Dim Sum? 2) Are reservations recommended? & 3) any safety concerns other than the usual for women travelers in large cities? Thanks!
